Artist Statement

“I paint what I enjoy. I love the sea and I love food. It is that simple.

There is some sort of peace in the familiar things, in the common. I like to paint the beach how I see it everyday after my morning swim. I like to paint a still life as if it was something that you just found on your kitchen table.

I want to cut the fluff, I like people who go straight to the point. I guess watercolors have that: you cannot hide things, you cannot hide mistakes, you cannot fool the viewer.

I love to swim and I feel very connected to water. This is why I chose watercolors as my medium. I’d like to think watercolors are a bit more respectful to our oceans compared to other mediums, but maybe I am doing some greenwashing here, or just wishful thinking.”

“I do not like to add words to my work. I feel a painting has its own language and should speak by itself, adding words would limit its meaning.
